Seed Beads

The yarns most appreciated by designers are :

• Fireline: ideal for stringing beads, making bracelets andnecklaces, and weaving large glass beads like Tilas. It's very strong, but a little too stiff for weaving small beads.
• Miyuki / KO / One-G: ideal for needle or loom weaving of small beads, e.g. Delica 11/0. Do not use with beads with sharp edges; do not use for simple bead threading, as the tension will be too great for the thread.
• Sono / Hana: flexible weaving wire, finer than Miyuki and KO. Not to be used for simple bead threading, as the tension will be too great for the thread.
• Silamide: ideal as warp yarn for loom weaving.
• C-LON AA / Nymo: premium weaving yarns. Not recommended for beginners. The threads are more likely to fray and knot, discouraging beginners. They are best used as warp threads for loom weaving, or with a good command of weaving techniques.

Seed beads mainly come in several standard sizes, expressed in numbers such as 15/0, 11/0, 8/0 or 6/0.
The larger the number, the smaller the bead: for example, a 15/0 bead measures around 1.5 mm, while a 6/0 can reach 4 mm.
