The most commonly used beads are seed beads . There are many brands, sizes and shapes for these beads. The most famous brands are Toho , Preciosa Ornella and Miyuki . These 3 brands offer seed beads of different sizes ranging from 2/0 to 15/0, the 2/0 beads being much larger than the 15/0 beads. The most common is to use 11/0 beads, but nothing prevents you from using larger or smaller beads for fine work with 15/0.

There is also a rock garden variant at Toho and Miyuki. These are respectively Treasures and Delicas . These beads have a cylindrical shape unlike the seed beads which have a round shape. They are also very regular, which allows for weaving of uniform width with regular patterns.

But pearl weaving is not just reserved for rockeries and Miyuki Delicas! You can combine many different beads to make your own original and ingenious creations. In the video shown on this page, we used Cubic Mini-Hematites as well as Miyuki-branded Rectangle Beads and Slender Bugles . You can combine these beads with seed beads or Delicas. For example, the Bugles Miyuki Slenders can be paired with the 15/0 Delicas of the same brand and the Bugles with the 11/0 Delicas.

The important thing is to choose regular beads that do not have too much difference in height on the weaving and to associate the beads in a line so that they have the same width. Do some tests on a table before weaving the beads to see if your lines are even.

You can also add beads over the weave as shown in the video. The Slender Bugles Miyuki lend themselves perfectly to this.

In this video we also present how to connect a spacer to a pearl weaving at the loom. Nothing could be simpler: you just have to clamp the weaving threads by "taking" the spacer with it. You can attach a multi-row clasp to the bracelet in the same way.
