What are the Miyuki Mocha Mousse beads?

Every year, the Pantone Institute, experts in industrial and fashion colors, unveils the trend color of the year. For 2025, it's Mocha Mousse. Mocha is a hot drink made from coffee and chocolate. This gourmand brown evokes a warm, soft shade. Although it is precisely defined by a PANTONE color code, namely PANTONE 17-1230, the color of the year is actually the same as the year of the brand.rity, like the year before, is Peach Fuzz, a set of color variations in shades of brown, evoking the velvety, enveloping texture of moss. These are timeless colors, perfect for creating a cosy, elegant ambience. Like black and white, it's a basic color that can't be ignored.

In this article, we present several references of brown Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads, inspired by the Mocha Mousse color. These beads can be used on their own, in gradients or combined with other shades, as brown blends beautifully with a multitude of colors. Use them without moderation in your creations! Find more color palette inspiration on the Pantone website.

Miyuki beads similar to Mocha Mousse

The two Miyuki pearl colors most similar to Mocha Mousse are DB-1843F Duracoat Galanized Mat Dark Mauve and DB-1732 Cocoa Lined Crystal AB. The former is brown, contrary to what its name might suggest. It's a Duracoat reference. This means that the pearls are varnished by the manufacturer. As for Cocoa Lined, this is probably the reference most similar to Mocha Mousse. These are transparent pearls with a brown colored interior and an AB (Aurora Borealis) sheen, so with slightly rainbow reflections.

Edit: Miyuki suggests DB-1162 as the equivalent color to Mocha Mousse.

Miyuki beads in warm hues

Many colors can be combined with brown. If you want to create a Harmonie Analogue, i.e. combine colors that are close on the color wheel with brown, choose contrasting shades. For example, it's best to combine a matte color with one that has a glossy effect, to give relief and depth to your weave. Below, I suggest three colors to combine with brown: bright red, brick red and an orange color tending towards caramel.

Although these are not exactly the same references, here's a weave that comes close: Miyuki brick-colored beaded cuff.

Mixing brown with other colors

In colorimetry, there's also equilateral harmony. You draw an equilateral triangle on the color wheel - brown is on one vertex - and get two other colors on the other two vertices, which are supposed to blend well with brown. This method produces green and violet.

By way of inspiration, you could make this Miyuki bangle by replacing the Avocado color with the Spruce color and the Dark Olive with the Brown from our card.

You could also incorporate brown into this Miyuki Lilac weave.

Combining Miyuki Turquoise Picasso beads

Miyuki Turquoise Picasso beads are turquoise in color, with a mottled brown effect reminiscent of the look of natural stones. It's a bead reference you'll love! You can mix them with brown beads in your weave for a Boho-Chic style. Turquoise is a color that approaches the opposite of brown, and as they say, opposites attract.

An example would be these fringed earrings from Little Hands Bijoux. She used Delica size 10, but you can use them as inspiration.

Brown's Complementary Harmony: Blue

Blue is the complementary color of brown. They complement each other very well. I've chosen lavender blue, but other shades of blue are also possible.

The foolproof mix: use lighter and darker shades

The easiest way to use brown in a weave is to play with shades. You can mix it with beige, much darker brown, white or more caramel shades of brown. But mixing it with nude or pink works just as well!
