How to weave Miyuki tube beads?

Perhaps you've already seen these tubes covered with Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads? Wondering what they are and how to use them? Here's a video tutorial to help you use these beads created especially for Miyuki. Indeed, these 19.5x10 mm stainless steel Miyuki tube beads have the perfect dimensions to wrap around a Peyote Pair weave of 12 beads wide by 28 beads long. In our tutorial, we'll show you how to weave a Peyote Pair and close the weave on the tube. Thanks to this tube customized with beads, we'll create a Miyuki bracelet for men or a unisex bracelet that you can offer on Father's Day, for example. Take a look at our other Father's Day tutorials.

Stainless steel is a rustproof metal, so it doesn't blacken. It's highly resistant over time and is perfect for a piece of jewelry that will last all summer long. Stainless steel is also a very hard metal. It is therefore difficult to cut. To cut the chain, we recommend the use of memory wire cutters rather than conventional wire cutters. This tube is also available in gold-plated stainless steel and in smaller sizes. The 11.5x10 mm size allows you to weave a Peyote Pair of 6 beads wide by 28 beads long. You can therefore use the same pattern, but divide it in two, weaving beads 1 to 6 instead of 1 to 12.

In this tutorial, the tube bead is strung on a chain to create a bracelet. You can also make a necklace and add other beads. You'll find everything you need to make this bracelet in gold in the variation section of the equipment list. Please note that the gold stopper beads are a little larger than the silver ones. They are 9 mm instead of 6 mm for the silver ones.

Feel free to show us your creations with these tube beads.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Make the Peyote Pair weave with Miyuki Delica beads by following the step-by-step instructions in the video. Start by stringing the beads in rows 1 and 2 one after the other. With row 3, create the spaces characteristic of Peyote weaving. With row 4, make sure you pass through the right beads and turn your pattern if necessary. Continue weaving the rows to the end.

Step 2

Place the weave on the tube and sew together both sides of the weave, passing through one bead on one side and the next on the other. Once the weave is closed on the tube, catch the threads in the weave and cut them.

Step 3

Cut the chain with memory wire pliers. Cut to a length equivalent to the size of the wrist + 1 cm to 1.5 cm.

Step 4

Tie a piece of thread on a link at the end of the chain with a double knot. Thread the thread through the needle, then pass the needle through the first stopper bead. Pass the tube over the chain. Repeat to place the second stopper bead on the other side.

Step 5

Then add an open ring on each end of the chain and a lobster clasp on one side. Center the tube and beads on the bracelet.
