If you've never done bead weaving with a needle before, don't worry, this tutorial is perfect for getting started with bead weaving. You will learn the basics of bead weaving You will learn the basics of bead weaving by discovering how to weave with the brick stitch technique around a shape or a support. Mastering this technique will open the doors to the wonderful world of weaving and you will be able to start making original woven jewelry. Find some of our bead weaving tutorials. You'll be spoilt for choice so to help you get started on your next project, feel free to use the search filters: type of jewelry, time to complete, level of difficulty, budget etc.
The pair of earrings proposed here is a subtle mix between vintage and modern earrings. Anyway, the trend is towards vintage! The marbled oval shape similar to a resin link reminds us of the XL jewelry in synthetic material from the 60s and 70s. To give it a more refined side, a weaving of seed beads brings a little detail thanks to the visible weaving thread. And to finish your creation, opt for a fancy ear stud and original. You can of course play with the colors to match or contrast them. To do this, feel free to modify the list of materials by finding your happiness among all the colors available for each product on the list.
We will be delighted to see the jewelry inspired by this tutorial so feel free to share them with us by posting a picture on our social networks.

To start this tutorial you will have

Start by cutting a length of approximately 70 cm of wire. This will give you enough length to make your loop without having to block your wire and then make an addition.
Thread an 8/0 seed bead onto your thread, pass your needle through the ring and thread through your seed bead again.

Hold the end of the thread and repeat this step by threading a second bead.
You will build a weave with the brick stitch technique all around the oval ring. To learn more about this technique, I invite you to consult these tutorials, whose technique is the same:

Repeat this step until you have strung 14 8/0 beads and covered half of the oval (or more if you wish).

Once you are done, you will create a second strand of beads in a smaller size, with 11/0 seed beads. You can play with the colors.
To do this, first thread a white 11/0 bead onto your needle and then go under the thread that connects the last two gold 8/0 seed beads before going up into the threaded white 11/0 bead.

Repeat this operation, this time threading two white beads on your needle.
The only difference is that you will only thread your needle and thread into the second bead you threaded, the first bead will get stuck between the first white bead you threaded in the previous step and the bead you will thread into.

Repeat step 6 a second time with white beads and then continue by stringing 2 beads but this time golden until you have covered almost all the 8/0 beads.
Just remember to thread white beads again when you have only 4 8/0 beads left to cover.
NB: on the picture some threads are coming out in the middle of the weaving because an addition of thread has been made. Do not take this into account if you have taken enough thread. If not, proceed to an addition by blocking your thread through the beads in zig-zag then insert a new thread by blocking it in the same way until it comes out in the bead where you stopped in your weaving.

When you are finished, lock your thread through the zig-zag beads, make a knot if you wish. Cut the threads and add a dot of glue to secure the weave.

Insert your oval pendant into the rectangular ear stud that has an open clasp.
To secure it, you can place a dot of glue on the back of the pendant and tighten the ear stud with a flat jewelry clip (with a nylon tip or a piece of paper to avoid metal contact and to mark your clip).
Your earring is finished. Repeat these steps to make the second one.
