We will start by weaving the beads, following the diagram below:

Brick stitch is one of the major DIY trends of 2023. This needle-bead weaving technique involves stringing seed beads in rows next to each other. To end the year on a high note, Raphaëlle suggests this beautiful pair of earrings. This handmade jewel will be the perfect gift idea for the festive season, to give to a loved one or yourself to complete your festive outfit.

We will start by weaving the beads, following the diagram below:

Cut approximately 80 cm of wire. Thread the 2 black beads to the left of the longest row, at the base of the triangle, leaving 15 cm of thread before the first bead. Thread through the first bead in the direction of the thread, then through the second. Pass again through the first and second beads to hold them in place. Avoid tightening the thread too much throughout the weaving process, to make it easier to attach the chains later.

Continue the row in ladder stitch: thread the next gold bead, iron through the second black bead in the direction of the thread, then through the gold, again through the black, and finally through the gold.
Repeat this step with the following beads to complete the first row of weaving.

Thread the first two beads of the top row, then pass the needle under the thread between the 2nd and 3rd beads that complete the first row. Pass the needle through the second bead of the new row, from bottom to top. Then pass back through the first bead of the new row (from top to bottom), then through the second (from bottom to top).

Continue the row using the brick stitch technique: thread the next bead, pass the needle under the thread between the two beads of the previous row, then work back through the bead you've just added from bottom to top.

Continue weaving until you reach the penultimate row, following the previous two steps.

Thread the last bead onto the needle, then pass the thread through the black bead in the row below. Then thread through the gold bead on the same row, then the top bead, and finally the black bead on the row below.
Stop the threads at both ends of the weave, then cut them flush.

Open 2 2.5 mm rings and pass them through the 2 beads marked in grey on the diagram. You can fold the weave to facilitate the passage of the rings through the beads.

Cut a piece of chain approximately 17 mm long. Pass one end of the chain through one of the rings, then close it.
Fold the weave in half to bring the other end of the chain to the second ring, passing it through the back of the weave and avoiding twisting it. Pass the last link of the chain through the second ring, then close it.

Repeat these two steps, mounting 2.5 mm rings on the two beads marked in gray on the diagram, and cutting a chain approximately 30 mm long.

Insert a 2.5 mm ring in the black bead at the top of the weave.

Open a 5 mm ring, then thread over it the ring attached to the top of the weave, a brass triangle and the ring of an ear stud, taking care to orient the stud correctly in relation to the weave. Close the ring.

Repeat all these steps for the second earring.
