What is a transfer sheet and how does it work?

A transfer sheet is a printed medium that allows you to transfer a motif onto a surface without the need to paint or draw yourself. The principle is simple:

• Roll out your polymer clay using a roller or polymer clay machine. Place it on a tile.
• Cut out the motif and place it on the smooth, clean clay (before firing).
• Smooth with your fingers or gently with the roller to remove any air bubbles. Leave to rest for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the ink to transfer to the dough.
• Spray the transfer sheet with water, or run the tiles directly under a low-temperature water tap (a small trickle of water is required). Rub away any remaining paper with the pad of your finger. Once the paper has dissolved, the image remains on the polymer.
• Leave to dry for 5 to 10 minutes.
• Quickly cut the plate as required and apply it to the desired surface.
  Handle the clay carefully, avoiding placing your fingers on the image.
• Bake your polymer clay as usual, at the temperature indicated by the manufacturer.
• If any paper residue remains after firing, you can remove it by running your piece under water (with a small trickle) and rubbing gently with your finger.

The pattern remains clearly and durably imprinted on the surface.
