How to color the uv led resin?

At Perles and co, we offer a large number of molds for resin including, lately, special molds for resin earrings. These molds are sold in pairs which allows you to make the pair of earrings at the same time. What are the advantages of having two molds to make the pair of earrings?

• If you use epoxy resin, which is the resin that hardens in 48 hours, you can get your earrings in 48 hours instead of 4 days. This greatly shortens the delay.
• It also avoids you to have to re-mix the resin. So, if you color your resin, you will get two earrings that will have the same shade because you will use the same mixture.
• In the case of patterned earrings, like the sun or lotus, you will get symmetrical earrings that are not identical.

In this tutorial, we used UV LED resin, but as you will see, some molds will be more suitable for epoxy resin, especially because of the shrinkage rate of UV LED resin. You don't know the differences between UV LED resin and epoxy resin. Read our article on the comparison between UV LED resin and epoxy resin. Here is the resin we recommend according to the mold:

ATT-797 mold: Epoxy resin, ATT-809 mold: Epoxy resin and UV LED resin, ATT-812 mold: Epoxy resin, ATT-813 mold: Epoxy resin and UV LED resin, ATT-814 mold: UV LED resin.

Be careful, clean the molds with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab before the first use, because it seems that there is a product on it which makes marks on the resin at the first use with the UV LED resin. The household alcohol can also be used to clean the resin from a surface. Please protect your table with plastic. If you drop the resin on a porous surface like wood, you will never be able to clean it.

Safety rules: Wear gloves, glasses and ventilate the room. Do not breathe in resin fumes directly.

You can color the epoxy resin with suitable dyes or a few drops ofalcohol ink.

Remove as much as possible the bubbles in the resin: With UV LED resin, keep your resin + dye mixture away from light for a few hours. If possible on a warm surface. The bubbles will rise, you can then blow them up with a gas lighter. If the bubbles are stuck in the gaps of the mold, bring them up with a toothpick before popping them. For epoxy resin, tap the mold to pop the bubbles. You can also use a toothpick.
