Tape the first three holes on the back of the ring.
Prepare the resin. Add the colorant. Mix well.
UV LED resin catalyzes or cures under UV LED light in a matter of minutes or even seconds. This is a big advantage over two-component epoxy resin, which generally takes 48 hours to catalyze. This makes it possible to carry out certain projects that would be impossible with epoxy resin. However, it is a resin that shrinks more than epoxy resin and should only be used in thin coats. This makes it perfect for jewelry-making. To use this resin, you need a UV LED lamp. You'll find one at the bottom of the page in the equipment list. A lamp for semi-permanent nail polish will also do the trick.
Here are a few recommendations:
In the materials list, in the variation section, we've included shading cases. These are boxes in which you can mix colored resin. They have a cap to protect the mixture from light, and labels to show the color of the resin inside. With this type of device, you can keep your resin for 1 week without it hardening. They must be used with Padico cups. The cups can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol before the resin hardens.
Adjust the ring to your size before applying the resin. Do not change the ring size once the resin has been applied, as it will come off.
Tape the first three holes on the back of the ring.
Prepare the resin. Add the colorant. Mix well.
Use a thin spatula or toothpick to place the resin on the scotch tape. Apply a thin layer, trying not to extend too far over the edges.
To eliminate small bubbles, you can use a gas-lighter or lighter.
Place the ring under a UV resin lamp. Be careful when placing the ring, as the resin will fall off until it is cured (catalyzed).
Wait 1 minute. As the layer is thin, the resin hardens fairly quickly.
Move on to the next hole and proceed in the same way.
Remove the tape. To make it transparent again, apply another layer of resin to the back.
Continue until the entire ring is covered.
