How to resinate dried flowers and polymer?

Creating jewelry from dried flowers is within everyone's reach! Discover in this video a step by step process to make a pair of earrings with real dried hydrangea flowers and Cleopatra bi-component resin. On a white polymer clay base that serves as a work support and will give the final shape to the jewel, work different materials for a unique rendering.

These dried hydrangea flowers are specially designed for DIY creations, they are ready to use and do not discolor in contact with the solvents contained in the resin. For your information, the garden flowers that you would like to dry for the same purpose do not necessarily all react in the same way and often lose their colors. By opting for special DIY dried flowers, this kind of inconvenience will be avoided.

At first you will use the white polymer to make the support of your choice and then delicately place the flower on it. The shape is given thanks to a round cookie cutter (or the one of your choice). Usually, the cooking of the dough is done in an oven intended for this purpose. Once your polymer clay shapes have cooled, you will mix the two components according to the instructions (2 doses of resin to 1 dose of hardener) to obtain the resin. Do not forget to protect yourself by putting on gloves and airing your work piece if possible. Once the resin is ready, place some resin under and on the flower. The catalysis of the resin takes about two days, it is however more reasonable to wait three days to avoid leaving prints. The assembly after piercing your pieces requires a ring and a floral ear stud too. It's up to you!

The material needed for this tutorial (polymer clay, resin and dried flower board) will allow you to make a multitude of earrings, you just need to adjust the quantities of ear studs.
