Not sure which grit to choose?
The grit and roughness of sanding paper are defined according to a classification method.
The smaller the number, the coarser the grain.
- Between 150 and 240, it's for roughing.
- Between 240 and 600, for finishing.
- Between 800 and 2000, for advanced finishing.
In polymer, 1200 grit is the last sanding grit before moving on to polishing.
We start sanding polymer creations with 600 grit if there is a lot of material to remove. Otherwise, 800 grit is adequate.
To remove the slight whitish deposit caused by sanding, we then move on to polishing with even finer grit, found in the micro-mesh section.
Underwater use is recommended for polymer clay creations.
Tip: add a drop of soap to trap volatile sanding particles.
