Flower template earrings Perles and Co

In this tutorial you will find the realization of a pair of earrings made with a polymer clay template imagined by the Perles and co team. This jig allows you to obtain earrings of several sizes with various shapes to build your jewelry. Flowers with round petals, flowers with pointed petals with three different sizes to make a pendant, earrings and mini earrings. There are also two triangles that can be used as spacers and a smaller plus dedicated to sticking on an ear stud, as for triangles you have the same thing in round. What a fun way to create a whole collection of polymer jewellery, the shapes are so pretty that by just using beautiful paste colours without even creating patterns you will be delighted with the result.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Take 3 bars from your terracota loaf, flatten it under your roller and then pass it through the dough machine at medium speed (number 3 of the Imperia). Your plate should be large enough to cut out two medium sized flower shapes on the inside and then two rounds, the smaller ones.

Step 2

Take two bars in white pastry, add a filament of terracota pastry. First make a ball with these two colours, then stretch it out, fold it in half on itself and twist it a little.

Step 3
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 3

First make a ball with these two colours, then stretch it out, fold it over itself and twist it a little. Roll it again on a support to obtain a cylinder.

Step 4
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 4

Cut 3 slices along the length of the cylinder, turn them over and put them side by side. Pass the roll over the surface.

Step 5
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 5

Run your baking sheet lengthwise through the dough machine at the thickest setting. Lower one notch then pass the plate again but this time in the other direction, change direction one last time by reducing one more notch of the machine (notch number three).

Step 6
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 6

Put your template in the place where there is the medium size round and choose in your plate the place you like the most, be careful there are two pieces to do they should have similarities. Run your finger under the baking sheet to stretch the dough by pushing a little which will give a rounded side to the rounds. You can cut directly leaving your template in place and using a cutter pen, or the dough being marked you can cut by removing the template and following the lines.

Step 7
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 7

Take a cloth, place it on the terracota plate and roll it over the cloth to give a texture similar to your dough.

Step 8
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 8

As you have just done for the round ones this time the medium flowers with round petals are used.

Step 9
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 9

Don't forget to do the same with the smaller round ones for ear studs with the same colour. Bake your pieces at 120 degrees for 30 minutes.

Step 10
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 10

Prepare lukewarm soapy water and then sand the contours of the flowers and terracota rounds without touching the texture, make the back of the pieces and then sand them whole. Then sand the white marbled roundels with a 1000 abrasive and then start polishing with a micro-mesh of 3200 grit (between 2000 and 4000) to obtain a clean, matt finish. If you want to know more about sanding you can watch this video.

Step 11
Flower template earrings Perles and Co : Step 11

Put a drop of glue on the back of each small round and press it firmly to glue them on the ear studs. Drill the other pieces with a hand chuck, it is easier to drill well in the middle to position yourself on a cutting mat or a grid sheet.

Pass through the holes of the 5 mm rings to assemble your three parts.

Bonjour,
