Geometrical breastplate collar and kaleidoscope duck made of polymer clay

Choose a dough colour from your selection of colours and pass it through to notch n°2 of your Imperia dough machine.

Set this plate aside for later, cut out the shapes that will make up your necklace using the template.

To realize the pattern of the central piece, it is necessary to first make a kaleidoscope cane.

Once your kaleidoscope cane is finished, you can now cut slices of about 2 mm in order to position them on your dough base.In the same way as for the previous steps, link your kaleidoscope cane to your dough base using your roller.

To make the two pieces that border the central piece, repeat the next step by simply changing the colours.
Make a new gradient with the colours copper, rust and champagne.

Select an area and roughly cut out a piece of paste. Place it on top of your base paste and use your roller to bind the gradient to your base.

To make the pieces located at the ends of the necklace, make a gradation in the metallic colours champagne, antique gold and antique bronze on notch n°2 of your paste machine. For a little help on the technique of making a gradient, you can take a look at our video :

How to make a polymer gradient and target duck

Once you have made your gradient, select the area you like the most. Cut a relatively large piece of it and place it on your base. Gently pass the roll over the gradient so that it is well bonded to the base. Repeat this step for the second piece on the end.
Remember to position the shapes in mirror to keep consistency on the gradient.

You can now place your pieces in the oven for 30 minutes at 110 degrees.

Plunge your cooked pieces into a container filled with water. Sand each of the pieces with your sanding sheets, making sure to pass each type of grain: first 1000, then 2400, 4000 and finally 8000.

After the sanding step, you can polish your parts with a flannel disc and your Dremel. This step allows you to bring brightness to your parts and bring out their metallic effect.

Your parts are ready. Now you can drill them using a hand chuck.
First choose a fine drill bit and adjust the hole size according to the rings you are going to use.
You need to drill the three central pieces in each corner. The end pieces must be drilled with three holes: one in each corner as well. Assemble the pieces together using rings, which are opened with jewellery pliers.

Measure approximately the ideal chain length for your neckband and cut it in half.
Connect each piece of chain to the rings at the ends of the collar.
Finish your assembly by connecting the whole thing with a clasp and an extension chain.

Your necklace is finished!
