How to use your fabric scraps?

Pieces of fabric! This is a recurring problem for seamstresses! The more you sew, the more there is. Even if you're making the best use of fabric, you know you're going to have some left over when your DIY sewing project is finished.
And these scraps of fabric will inevitably join those you've been accumulating in your closets, without really knowing what to do with them...
To stop stockpiling, switch to Recuperation mode. And make everyday objects for a Zero Waste lifestyle!
In this fact sheet, we've selected a dozen easy-to-make sewing ideas to show you how to recycle old fabrics. Get out your needles and scissors!

  • A scrunchie for your hair. Velvet, cotton canvas, denim or viscose, any material will do.
  • A needle organizer so you don't leave your needles lying around (and lose them). An essential accessory for all seamstresses. It's also very practical for beadworkers.
  • A bohemian-chic bracelet made from large-mesh chain. You'll be the envy of many!
  • A head band. A hairstyling accessory that's easy to make with your own scraps of fabric. You can sew a personalized headband with beads, or make a bunny-ear headband.

  • A reusable sponge. Are you familiar with Tawashi ecological sponges? Tawashi is a woven sponge from Japan.
It's machine-washable, reusable and a perfect replacement for your classic sponges. What's more, it's totally in keeping with the Zero Waste trend.
  • Washable, reusable nursing pads. Popular accessories for expectant and nursing mothers.
  • A sweet-smelling heart sachet for your wardrobe. Fill them with dried lavender, scented potpourri or absorbent cotton soaked in a few drops of essential oil.
  • Make-up remover squares. This is a zero-waste idea that's been very much in vogue over the last few years. Don't have your own? All the more reason to get in on this trend.

  • A teething rattle in the shape of rabbit ears. A great idea for a birth gift. What's more, it's ultra-simple to make.
  • A ring to resine on a support. Love the pattern on your fabric? Why not use it to enhance your jewelry?
We've shown you how to resine a ring, but you can also apply this technique to a pendant or a setting bracelet. The choice is yours!
  • A homemade bow tie for the dandy in you. No need to spend hours tying it, this modern, casual bow tie can be fastened and adjusted with a Velcro strap. Ingenious, isn't it?
  • A cute brooch in the shape of a cat's head. Perfect for boosting a plain T-shirt or decorating the lapel of a jacket.
