What is Cernit clay?Cernitclay is a flexible polymer clay that’s a pleasure to work with. The opaque finish of the Number One colors is ideal for creating canes without any issues with color changes after baking. Cernit Number One 100% Opaque is used to make beads, cabochons, and other shapes for DIY jewelry. You can also use this Cernit line to create small figurines or miniature treats. Discover a wide range of colors on our website and have fun mixing them together to create new shades. Note that they are compatible with other Cernit clays.
The Cernit Number One line is the brand’s classic range, suitable for all modeling projects. Use modeling tools, texture plates, silk screens, or wooden rollers to add dimension to your creations. You can also use cookie cutters or stencils to vary the shapes of your creations.
Baking Cernit Polymer Clay:
1. Cut off a piece of Cernit. Always work with the clay using clean hands on a clean surface.
2. Preheat your electric oven to between 110°C and 130°C / 230°F and 266°F. Do not use a microwave oven.
3. Bake for a maximum of 30 minutes.
4. After baking, your Cernit Number One creations will be solid yet remain flexible (depending on the thickness of your creations). You can still work on them: sculpt, sand, paint, etc. Cernit clay has the highest gloss after sanding.
How to store Cernit clay once opened: We recommend storing your Cernit clay at room temperature wrapped in wax paper and then placed in an airtight container. Be careful not to let the Cernit clay come into contact with PVC, polystyrene, or expanded polystyrene.
Although less well-known than Fimo clay, the Cernit brand has many advantages. It doesn’t stick to your fingers, doesn’t stain, and is odorless.
