Jewelry holder Cernit polymer paste handles and mandala stencil

Tired of seeing your favorite jewelry lying around on your console or dresser? Take matters into your own hands and follow our tutorial to make a jewelry holder from polymer clay and wood. All your jewels will be neatly and stylishly organized.

You'll learn how to make round handles in Cernit clay. You'll use them to hang necklaces, long necklaces or bracelets, depending on where you position them on the jewelry holder.

Using the same technique, you can use these handles to personalize your drawers.

We've chosen a pretty madala stencil to decorate this jewelry display, but you can choose other stencil designs from our selection.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

You can use recycled paste for this first step, as the color won't show. Take a small quantity of the dough and shape it into a ball for the head of your screw. Shape by pressing the ball and the screw into your silicone mould.
Bake at 120 degrees for 10 minutes only. You'll need to make 6 pieces like this.

Step 2

Make a sheet of white dough using the dough machine. Using a 3 cm cutter, cut out 6 rounds.

Step 3

Apply gold leaf to all the pieces, cut out the outline and smooth the surface.

Step 4

Take your tube of pads and press each one onto the round parts.

Step 5

Cover the domed part of your already-baked pieces with your textured golden circles.

Step 6

Make 6 more white circles as in step 2, then cut out 6 more circles from the plate using a 1 cm cutter. Pierce them with mini-pieces.
Thread these circles, starting with the largest, onto the screw. Smooth with your fingers to bind the dough and perfect the shape. Bake at 120 degrees for 30 minutes.

Step 7

Varnish your door handles. For this step, you can use scraps of dough to make a base for your pieces.

Step 8
Jewelry holder Cernit polymer paste handles and mandala stencil : Step 8

Use a wooden board of your choice, position your mandala stencil, then paint with white acrylic. Make 2 prints with a non-whole pattern.

Step 9
Jewelry holder Cernit polymer paste handles and mandala stencil : Step 9

Mark the drilling locations with a felt-tip pen. Drill with a bit of the same diameter as your screws (in this case, 4 mm).

Step 10
Jewelry holder Cernit polymer paste handles and mandala stencil : Step 10

Insert your screws into the holes.

Step 11
Jewelry holder Cernit polymer paste handles and mandala stencil : Step 11

Tighten on the back with the matching nuts, which are often sold together. Your jewelry holder is ready!

Step 12
Jewelry holder Cernit polymer paste handles and mandala stencil : Step 12

You can also use this technique to make handles by attaching them to drawers.
