How do I clean natural wood beads?

To clean your beads in raw or varnished wood, simply use a soft cloth slightly dampened with lukewarm water and mild soap. Wipe dry immediately. Never put them in the dishwasher or washing machine, as this will cause the wood to swell and crack.

Is it possible to paint raw wood beads?

Yes, raw wood beads are ideal for DIY personalization. You can use acrylic paint, gouache or Posca markers. For a long-lasting finish, remember to apply a protective varnish (matte or gloss) after painting. If the bead is intended for a child, be sure to use only toy-safe (non-toxic) paints and varnishes.

What's the difference between raw and varnished wood beads?

A raw wood bead is sanded but has not received any surface treatment: it is matt and ready to be painted or oiled. A varnished bead has received a protective coating (often gloss or satin) that makes it more resistant to stains, humidity and wear, while enhancing the wood's natural color.

What can you do with large wooden beads?

  • A wooden bead handbag is an essential summer accessory. Retro and bohemian, we also love it for its elegant yet casual look.
  • A macramé feather (or macramé leaf) is very easy to make. You can make several in different colors and sizes and hang them on a piece of driftwood. And there you have it: an original macramé hanging.
  • Start making a macraméwall hanging. All you need to do is learn the basic macramé knots to create it.
  • Add atouch of bohemian chic to your home with an easy macramé wall hanging. It's easy to make, but you'll love it.
  • Make a dream catcher, an easy-to-make bohemian decor element.
