What is wire wrapping? Wire wrapping has been in vogue for a few years and is not new. It is an ancestral jewellery technique, which consists of wrapping metal wires around a support such as gemstones or pearls, while creating simple or complex patterns. Some pieces may even look like works of art.
With the craze for gemstones, wire wrapping is present in costume jewellery. It is a very good method to set stones or to personalize your handmade costume jewellery.Round, flat or square wires, you can use any shape of wire, as long as it is flexible and rigid at the same time, to be malleable enough. As for the material, your wire can be made of aluminium, silver, stainless steel, copper or Gold Filled. It all depends on your DIY project!

Another variant of wire wrapping: lettering. The technique remains the same, but instead of creating volutes and arabesques, letters are formed with metal wire. This way you can display your mood of the day on a bracelet or write a name on a necklace.
In wire wrapping, there's nothing else to do but let your imagination run wild. With a little dexterity and practice, you will be able to use the pliers to make unique earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces. You will be able to leave your thread raw or embellish it with beads. The possibilities are numerous, it's up to you!
