How to make rosette earrings with pearly beads?

In this video, discover how to attach pearly beads to create a vintage rosette jewel. These chic 20s-inspired earrings are perfect for retro or classic outfits. They'll also accessorize your wedding guest outfit. These are the ultimate DIY ceremony earrings. They feature pearly crystal beads and a Gold Filled, also known as Gold Laminé, earring back. The pearls are also attached with a Gold Filled wire. Gold Filled is a metal coated with a layer of gold. In the case of stud earrings, this is 14-carat gold. The layer of gold is thicker than in the case of gold plating, which ensures that the gold color holds well over time. Admittedly, the gold used is often less pure than that used for gold plating, but this makes Laminated Gold a good, less expensive alternative to gold plating.

Here are a few tips on how to make the most of your earrings:

  • At first, wind the wire tightly around the hoop several times.
  • Don't pull on the wire if a loop forms. Unwind the loop before pulling the wire.
  • Avoid using pliers when weaving beads on the support, as they will weaken the wire.
  • Don't glue the 4 mm beads together, as the ten beads need to be evenly distributed around the ring.
  • As a general rule, don't over-tighten the beads, otherwise the rosette won't be flat.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Cut 35 cm of wire. Start by wrapping the end of the wire around the earring holder. Make five turns. Thread the 8 mm pearl bead and center it on the ring. Wrap the wire twice around the ring on the other side.

Step 2

Thread a 4 mm bead, a 3 mm bead and a 4 mm bead. Fold back the beads and thread the wire through the ring. Be careful not to make any loops, as this will weaken the thread. You need to be very delicate with the thread so that it doesn't break. Pass the thread through the last bead strung, from bottom to top.

Step 3

Repeat this step, but start with a 3 mm bead, then a 4 mm bead. Fold in your beads, thread through the ring and back through the 4 mm bead. Repeat until you've attached ten 4 mm beads.

Step 4

Next, thread a final 3 mm pearl bead through the first bead. Now wrap the thread around the ring several times, then cut.
