Tutorial steps

Step 1
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 1

Cut 2 base wires of the 1 mm wire, each 20 cm long.

Step 2
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 2

Cut a 60 cm long wire from the 0.6 mm wire. Fold it in half, as shown here.

Step 3
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 3

Hold the two 1 mm wires together, making sure their ends are aligned. Measure 5 cm at the initial end of these wires, then position the bent centre of the wire 0.6 mm around them, as shown here.

Step 4
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 4

Take the front end of the 0.6 mm wire, bend it completely upwards, wrapping it once around the two 1 mm wires as tightly as possible.

Step 5
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 5

Now take the other end of the 0.6 mm wire, bend it completely upwards over the 1 mm wires.

Step 6
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 6

Using the flat-nosed pliers, press a little on this woven part to flatten it.

Step 7
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 7

Now cut another 0.6 mm wire of the same length (60 cm). Fold it in half.

Step 8
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 8

On the right side of the newly woven wires, position the folded centre of this second wire 0.6 mm around the 1 mm wires, as shown here.

Step 9
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 9

Repeat exactly the same bending and flattening steps as we did with the previous 0.6 mm wire.

Step 10
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 10

We're going to start making the braid for the bazel setting of the cabochon. Take the two ends of the first 0.6 mm wire, bend them in the direction of the right side, behind the ends of the second 0.6 mm wire, making a little less than 1 cm high with a curved part.

Step 11
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 11

Now bend these 0.6 mm wire ends completely downwards, bending them over the 1 mm wires as shown with the arrow.

Step 12
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 12

Wrap these 0.6 mm wire ends once around the two 1 mm wires as tightly as possible.

Step 13
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 13

Now we have to take both ends of the 0.6 mm wire from the left side and we have to repeat exactly the same steps. Bend them in the right-hand direction behind the two ends of the other 0.6 mm wire.

Step 14
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 14

Bend these 0.6 mm wire ends completely downwards onto the 1 mm wires, then wrap them once around these base wires as tightly as possible.

Step 15
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 15

We must measure the length of the circumference of the stone, to know how long the braided bezel should be. Wrap a 0.6 mm piece of wire around your stone, as shown here.

Step 16
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 16

Cut the wire, then separate it from the stone.

Step 17
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 17

Straighten it, to know the length of the circumference of the stone.

Step 18
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 18

Now we have to keep braiding around the 1 mm base wires until we reach half the circumference of the stone.

Step 19
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 19

At this point, take the lower 1 mm wire, bend it completely downwards, then bend it slightly to the left side as shown here.

Step 20
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 20

Now bend this thread upwards, making a 1 cm loop with it.

Step 21
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 21

At the point where the lower 1 mm wire meets the upper 1 mm wire, hold it firmly in the flat nose pliers and bend it completely in the direction of the right side, positioning it in the same place as before.

Step 22
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 22

Continue to braid until the entire length of the braided part is the same as the length of the circumference of the stone.

Step 23
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 23

Place the braid under the stone, making sure that the central loop is exactly below the lower center of the stone. Very slowly, start folding both ends of the braid around the stone as shown here.

Step 24
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 24

Keep bending them until you get close to the top of the stone on both sides.

Step 25
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 25

On the right side, behind the 1 mm wires, cut off the extra ends of the 0.6 mm wire which is the last of the braid. Using the flat nose pliers, press the ends of the 0.6 mm wires behind the 1 mm wires until they are completely closed.

Step 26
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 26

Take both ends of the other 0.6 mm wire from the left side, make another braid, as shown here.

Step 27
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 27

Now cut off the additional ends behind the 1 mm wires and press the ends with the pliers until they are completely closed.

Step 28
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 28

On both sides, at the point where the braided part ends, bend the ends of the wire 1 mm to the sides, as shown in this picture.

Step 29
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 29

Continue to bend both sides of the braid closer together until they meet above the top of the stone.

Step 30
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 30

Position the wire structure horizontally and bend the wire ends 1 mm to the sides, crossing them over each other. Take the inner ends of the 1 mm threads on both sides, turn them around each other until you get a 4 cm long twisted part.

Step 31
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 31

Now bend the ends of the twisted wires as shown here, making them vertical (from this point of view).

Step 32
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 32

Take the 1 mm lower wire (from this point of view), bend it in the direction of the right side, positioning it under the twisted wires. Wrap it once around the lower end of the twisted wires.

Step 33
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 33

Cut off the extra end of this newly wound 1 mm wire and press it down with the flat nose pliers until it is completely closed.

Step 34
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 34

Repeat exactly the same packing and folding steps on the other side.

Step 35
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 35

A little below the centre of the twisted part, hold all the wires tightly inside the round nose pliers, then bend their upper part completely backwards and then downwards, as shown here.

Step 36
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 36

Switch to rear view. Place your stone inside the metal structure, making sure the back of the stone is facing you.

Step 37
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 37

Fold the lower loop upwards, bending it firmly over the back of the stone. Leave a 1.5 cm long end on the two 1 mm wires at the top, cut off the extra ends.

Step 38
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 38

Using the round-nosed pliers, bend both ends of the wire upwards and then inwards, making a closed loop with them, as shown in this picture.

Step 39
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 39

Cut a 15 cm long piece of wire from the 0.6 mm wire and fold it in half as shown here.

Step 40
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 40

Insert the 0.6 mm bent wire into the lower loop, with the wire ends facing upwards.

Step 41
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 41

Wrap the ends of the 0.6 mm wire twice around these 2 top loops, then cut off the extra ends of the 0.6 mm wire.

Step 42
Wire wrapped pendant with gemstone cabochon and copper wire : Step 42

Go to the front view.
Your beautiful pendant is ready.
