Do you like skunks and Miyuki beads? If so, you're in luck, because Cécile offers you the opportunity to weave this little kawaii animal!
This pattern can be woven using either brickstitch or peyote techniques. For beginners, don't hesitate to read our technical sheets to learn bead weaving.
To weave this pretty skunk, you need to know how to make multiple increases. If you're not comfortable with this, follow the steps and diagrams. You can also take a look at our How to do an increase/decrease in brick stitch datasheet .
Many thanks to Cécile for sharing this diagram (inspired by the character Fleur in Bambi).

STEP 1
Start by weaving the first row from the blue arrow, then weave the skunk's bottom, top and tail.
To weave the head, take a new thread and pull it out at the white bead below the pink arrow (see diagram). This way, you can continue weaving in the direction of the pink arrow.
Extra tip: You can weave the skunk's crest in a slightly different color, for example Miyuki Delicas Opaque Bisque White Ceylon beads - DB-1530.
To make multiple beading at the end of a row, thread the last bead in the row and pass through the previous bead. Pass your needle through the last bead threaded.

To put the thread back in the right direction to continue the top of the head, pass through the previous bead, then through the beads of the lower rows as shown in the diagrams. Work your way up through the beads in the row and out through the last white bead in the row. You can then continue weaving as normal.
These same steps should be repeated for the multiple augmentation below the nose.

STEP 2
Pull in all your threads and admire your skunk! you can mount it on a necklace, sew it onto a clutch or wear it as a brooch on a sweater ... it's up to you!
We'd love to see your version of the skunk ... so don't hesitate to send us photos of your creation on our Facebook page, to inspire others!
