How to increase and decrease in Brick Stitch
In summary

Brick Stitch weaving differs from Peyote stitch in the alignment of the beads, which are placed side by side rather than interlaced in a staggered pattern. Miyuki beads, thanks to their uniform shape, are ideal for this technique, allowing you to create a variety of pieces—such as brooches or bracelets—without a loom. Explore our patterns and blank charts to let your creativity run wild!

How do you do the Brick Stitch? We'll explain the Brick Stitch technique—including increases anddecreases—using diagrams.
Are you wondering what the difference is between the Brick Stitch and the Peyote stitch? It’s very simple!
In Peyote stitch, the beads are arranged in a staggered pattern, whereas in Brick Stitch, the beads are lined up side by side.
It’s worth noting that Miyuki beads are ideal for the Brick Stitch technique as well as other bead weaving techniques. In fact, these glass beads from the Japanese brand MIYUKI areuniquely shaped with a very uniform form.
Brick Stitch and Peyote stitch will allow you to create stunning beaded pieces without needing a loom—for example, a brooch, a Miyuki bracelet, or even a long beaded necklace.
Get inspired by our Brick Stitch designs and let your imagination run wild! We’ve prepared blank Peyote and Brick Stitchpatterns for you! It’s up to you to come up with your own original beading patterns!
With over 200 bead weaving tutorials—both with and without a loom—you’re sure to find something you love!
