Bee in brick stitch weaving

How to make a brick stitch bee?

Want to weave patterns for this spring but lack inspiration? Check out this bee diagram, suggested by our partner Pauline Eline, which will show you how to make a brick stitch bee. There are no real steps for this weaving but if you are a beginner, don't worry, you can refer to the technical sheets listed in the steps below. You will see, there is nothing very complicated if you take the time to understand the technique.

Once your weaving is done, it's up to you to choose what you want to do with this creation. We suggest several options: as a decoration (to be magnetized on the fridge for example), as a brooch to accessorize your most beautiful spring outfits, as a pin for a vintage effect or even as a necklace. For this, find some references in variation in the list of material. This list is, of course, not exhaustive.

If you liked the brick stitch technique and you want to make other tutorials, I invite you to look at our brick stitch weaving diagrams.

For your information, the list of materials may have changed due to stock.

NB: This tutorial was made for the magazine Idées à Faire n°32.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

If you are new to brick stitch weaving and don't know where to start, I invite you to check out our How to do brick stitch weaving with a needle?

We also have a data sheet that tells you how to do brick stitch weaving with increase and decrease.

Step 2

Once you have completed your first row, you can move to the next row, to the right and then to the left. The rows do not all contain the same number of beads. These are increases and decreases. If you don't know how to do this, check out our technical sheet: How to make brick stitch increases and decreases?

Step 3

You will probably need to add more thread as you weave. To do this, block the thread that has become too short in the weaving itself by zig-zagging between the beads. Go between the beads and rows so that the thread is not visible. Repeat this process to integrate your new thread and bring it out where you want it to continue weaving.

When you have finished weaving your design, do the same to lock your thread into the beads before cutting off the excess. Your weaving is finished, you can decide on its use: decoration, brooch, jewelry... it's up to you :)
