How to make a beer bead pattern?

In this tutorial, Marine, aka Hello c'est Marine, invites you to join her in creating an original bead-weaving motif: a frothy mug of beer! It's originally a simple recipe made from a mixture of water, yeast, barley and hops. This recipe has been adapted in many ways to offer a multitude of flavors and satisfy the palates of even more zythologists. You're probably wondering what this seemingly eccentric word means... it's simply the scholarly word for an outstanding beer connoisseur.

In this tutorial, Marine brings you her favorite brew: a clever blend of Miyuki Délicas beads in shades of camel and gold, to give life to two of the world's best-loved beers: a blonde and an amber.
For beginners, this tutorial is an opportunity tolearn the basics of bead weaving and get started on your first creation. There are two techniques for creating this pattern: peyote weaving and brick stitch weaving.

You can turn this weave into a magnet for your fridge, a key-ring or a pin (to customize a denim jacket, blouson or satchel, for example). Whatever you use your creation for, it's a great DIY gift idea for a beer lover (and we know there are lots of them).

Feel free to create your own version from this tutorial and share the result with us by posting a photo on our social networks.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Start weaving with the help of these needle-weaving data sheets. You can make these beaded beer mugs using the Brick Stitch or Peyote technique. The choice is yours:

- Learn Brick Stitch weaving
- Animated diagram of Brick Stitch weaving

In this tutorial, the patterns are made using the peyote technique: lager beer is an even peyote weave, amber beer is an odd peyote weave.

The handles of the beer mugs are made with increases, decreases and the ladder technique. For beginners, here are technical sheets on How to make an increase and decrease in peyote?

Step 2

Start your weaving with the widest line on the diagram, i.e. the longest line on the foam of each beer, and continue according to the diagram and your chosen technique.

When you reach the end of your initial thread length, lock it into the weave by zigzagging through the beads. This allows you to lock it rigidly rather than tie a knot (which will remain visible in the weave). Then do the same to insert your new thread and stand at the point where you stopped.

Step 3

Once the weaves are finished, you can stiffen them with UV Led resin. To do this, spread a few drops of UV resin evenly over the surface of your weave. Run under the UV lamp for 2 to 3 x 30 seconds. Repeat on the other side if desired. Resinizing your creation may be useful to stiffen it and use it for magnets, pins, etc.

Bonjour,
