Tutorial steps

Step 1
DIY: binder pins made of miyuki beads brick stitch : Step 1

Download the grid with the pattern. The pattern consists of two independently woven parts. The technique used is brick-stitch but the pattern is also suitable for peyote weaving. To start, cut about 1 m of yarn suitable for Miyuki weaving, gather the necessary beads and a needle.

Step 2

Weave the first part of the pattern (the bottom of the binder) following the grid. Once the pattern is woven, position your thread so that it passes through one of the two gold beads from the bottom to the top.

Step 3

String 5 beads of the lightest shade of leather (DB 2303) and then go through the second gold bead from top to bottom. Hide the threads before moving on to the second part of the design.

Step 4

Weave the second part of the pattern following the grid. Once the pattern is woven, position your thread so that it comes out of one of the 4 beads representing the seams (beige beads) from top to bottom.

Thread 2 gold beads (DB 1833) then pass through the beige bead next to it from the bottom to the top. Repeat with the other seam.

Step 5

Apply jewel glue to the second part of the pattern and then glue it to the first part. This is the woven pattern. We will now mount it in pins

Step 6

Apply jewel glue to the base of the pin and glue the base to the back of the binder.

Step 7

To strengthen the grip of the base of the pin, consolidate with a piece of faux leather. To do this, start by preparing a pattern in paper.

Step 8

Try on the pattern and adjust as needed.
