What trendy jewelry can you make with a synthetic pendant?

Synthetic pendants ( resin, acrylic, Plexiglas, acetate...) are perfect for creating trendy DIY jewelry to personalize. Among the most fashionable of the moment are :

  • Graphic earrings: earrings with plastic pendants are an instant must-have. The tuto we love? The one for these superb creoles with flower or rectangle pendants, very easy to reproduce.
  • Personalized summer bracelets: combine a flower, clover or letter pendant with colored nylon thread to create light, lively bracelets. Very much in vogue in summer, these jewels are simple to make and easy to personalize according to taste and the season!
  • Bag grigris and jewelry: bag grigris are also very popular: add a teddy bear, heart or sunflower pendant to a chain or bandana, and you've got a fun, original and stylish accessory.
  • Charms bracelets: easy to make in no time, they combine colorful threads with plastic or acrylic pendants on marine, summer or symbolic themes.

Are acrylic, acetate and other plastic pendants water-resistant?

Acrylic, acetate, Plexiglas or resin pendants offer good resistance to humidity and will not rust, but they are not designed for prolonged or repeated use in water. Although they can withstand occasional splashes, like all jewelry components, it is recommended to remove them before showering, swimming or aquatic activities to preserve their brilliance and durability.

Why avoid prolonged exposure to water?

  • Loss of brilliance: acrylic and resin can become dull over time if repeatedly exposed to water or sunlight.
  • Deformation or embrittlement: some resins may soften slightly with prolonged heat or humidity.
  • Discoloration: tinted, marbled or printed finishes may fade or deteriorate.
  • Deterioration of primers: if the pendant is combined with non-rustproof metal, the metal parts may rust or oxidize.
