To attach hotfix rhinestones to fabric, use a flexible, clear, wash-resistant fabric adhesive. It must remain flexible after drying so it doesn’t crack when the fabric moves. This is the ideal solution for delicate or non-heat-resistant fabrics. If the fabric can withstand heat, iron-on hotfix rhinestones remain the most durable option. In any case, be sure to apply the adhesive to a clean, dry, and untreated fabric for optimal adhesion.
Hotfix rhinestones (or iron-on rhinestones) are applied using an iron or a heat gun: their backs are already coated with heat-activated adhesive. Rhinestones that require gluing, on the other hand, need you to apply the glue yourself: they are more versatile because they are compatible with almost any surface (metal, plastic, wood, resin, and non-heat-resistant fabric).
