Fimo Effet Cuir instructions for use and firing

Knead your clay as for classic Fimo. Shape, cut or laminate according to your project. Bake at 130°C for 30 minutes. Once cooled, the magic happens: your creation becomes supple and can be folded, sewn (with a strong needle) or braided.

Fimo Effet Cuir can be mixed with other Fimo clays (Soft, Professional, Effect) to create customized hybrid textures.

Can you make ducks with Fimo Effet Cuir?

This is to be avoided. Because of the graininess of the clay, you won't get a precise enough pattern. What's more, the clay tends to stick to the blade, making it difficult to cut thin slices.

Can leather-effect Fimo creations be varnished?

No, you mustn't use varnish on Fimo Effet Cuir, as it will lose its leather effect and look like plastic.

Does Fimo Effet Cuir shrink during firing?

Yes, a little. Leather-effect Fimo clay shrinks by around 5%. If you're working with precise dimensions, you'll need to plan a little wider than those dimensions.
