If you're always looking for new crafts to do with the kids during the vacations, this tutorial with Hama beads is for you. You can't go wrong with ironing beads, and you're sure to be a big hit with this creative hobby that children always love!
Aurélie, aka Lili Azal&e acute;e, has found a great summer vacation activity for her children, combining creativity, fun and dexterity. But this time, she doesn't suggest using Hama ironing beads as usual, with a stand and an iron. In this tutorial, Aurélie shows you how to weave Hama beads into an original tropical-inspired bead weave. By following this step-by-step procedure, you'll be able to make a pretty watermelon slice. All that's left to do is follow the same procedure for the parrot and hibiscus flower.
If you're new to weaving, don't panic, discover and learn the basics with our various tutorials in our toolbox.
Thanks to Aurélie for sharing her grids and tutorial. Weave beautiful objects using theHama bead brick stitch technique.

A little extra: you can start from an existing diagram for Miyuki beads. But beware: your weave will be much larger, and a little distorted (stretched in one direction): Hama beads don't have the same length/width ratio as Miyuki beads. If you'd like to draw your beads in Beadtool, you'll need to change the grid: go to "View", "Options", "Template", in "Appearance" change the bead width to 19 and the bead height to 17.
Want to design other patterns? Feel free to print out our blank grids.
To take things a step further, glue a magnet to the back of your bead weave to make a magnet. In the same way, you can add a brooch holder to pin your creation to the lapel of your jacket.
