Looking for something a little natural this fall? Perles and co has thought of you with this easy-to-make gemstone creole tutorial. The stone featured in this tutorial is prehnite! But the pendant is also available in other models.
Prehnite is a natural stone (or gemstone) with a pale green to yellow color. It is translucent to transparent. It closely resembles jade, hence the nickname "Australian yellow jade" (for certain varieties) and "grape jade" or "vine jade". It is used in jewelry and sculpture.
Anecdote: It was only discovered in the 18th century by Henrick Von Prehn at the Cape of Good Hope (Africa). He gave it its name.
For the Shamans of Africa, this stone would enable them to make the right decisions and guide their community. Australian Aborigines believed it had the power to absorb and store the sun's energy, then rebroadcast it. They used it at night for warmth and to ward off nocturnal creatures.
You can find all our gemstone primers on this page to enhance your creations with the unique look of these stones.
The rest of the items in this tutorial are ceramic Heishi ceramic rondelle beadsin mint to match the color of the prehnite pendant and in black to add a touch of color to the creoles. Smaller, gold-plated stainless steel rondelle beads are also used to add a touch of originality to the creoles.
The hoop earrings used are 30 mm 316 L gold-plated stainless steel hoop earrings, but we offer all kinds of hoop earrings in different finishes and diameters on the site.
It's up to you to create your own gemstone hoop earrings, using the materials listed in this tutorial!

You'll need a pair of flat-tip and round-tip pliers, and all the materials you'll need to complete the tutorial.

Start stringing the beads from left to right, first the stopper bead, then two mint ceramic heishi beads, a gold rondelle bead, a black ceramic heishi bead, again two mint heishi beads, a black heishi bead and then a gold rondelle bead. Then repeat the pattern in reverse, starting with the gold rondelle bead and ending with the stopper bead.

Open the ring with flat-nose pliers and round-tipped pliers, then thread the pendant through it before hanging the ring on the creole between the two round gold-plated beads in the middle.

Repeat on the other creole to complete the pair.

And here's the result!
