Polymer clay peony earrings

Learn how to make peony flowers using white Cernit opaline polymer clay and dry pastels to color them. This tutorial is for all levels of polymerists and can be used as a basis for any other flower by modifying for example the heart which is specific to each one. You will see how nice it is to compose flower petals with a small tool with ball-shaped ends and then to color them. The assembly is made on stainless steel ear studs so that allergic people will not be bothered and your jewel will not be damaged with time.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Polymer clay peony earrings : Step 1

Take a bar of white opaline dough, cut with your blade 8 small equal segments to form 8 balls. Pinch these balls with your fingers to make cones.

Step 2

Take two more equal amounts of pasta to form two more balls, bigger this time, crush them with your index finger, then place your cones on top, set aside.

Step 3

Take another strip of dough, pass it through the MAP on the medium notch or use the roller. Cut your strip 1 cm wide and 10 long then divide into 2 parts. Cut fringes with your blade then with a very fine ball head tool, crush the fringes.

Step 4

Scrape 3 colours of dry pastels with your blade to obtain a powder. Put the pink and yellow powder on the fringe strips with a brush. Use the orange for the heart of the flower. Form again two white balls that you will place under the flattened circles and the 4 cones, smooth the edges of the circle on the ball and then prick the hearts of the flowers on toothpicks.

Step 5

Put another piece of white dough in the machine to obtain a plate. Take with a round cutter of about 12 mm several rounds, you need 8 per peony. Place your petal in the palm of your hand and then with a tool head ball of about 10 mm crush the round to make a petal. Use fuschia dry pastels to colour them.

Wrap all your petals around the heart by pressing and reshaping your base, take your flower in your hand then go with your blade underneath to cut the whole base and obrtenir as a ball on the bottom.

Step 7

Pierce one of the petals where you think it is most accessible and then put a ring through it. Place your flowers in bicabonate of soda and in a hollow container to bake at 120 degrees for 30 minutes.

Mount your peony earrings with stainless steel rings and ear studs of the same color.
