Ethnic and refined polymer clay earrings

The use of Moiko stencils is one of the essential techniques in the field of fancy creations in polymer clay, the instructions for use are very easy and affordable to everyone and this brand in particular is very solid and reliable. The rendering of the patterns with acrylic paint is surprisingly fine, a few tips are enough to obtain a very professional finished jewel. Jewelry made from Fimo, Cernit, Sculpey or kato Polyclay paste have the same particularity which is their durability, that is to say that few things can damage the polymer except of course scratches due to shocks. There is no dulling of the paste as long as there is no varnish on its surface.

Because of this advantage that this paste gives us it is important for the assembly to use primers that can also last in time without changing the color, that's why we have used stainless steel for the ear studs and rings, do not hesitate to go and see the categories of stainless steel in beads and components or in primers.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Take some black dough, just over half a loaf of bread from 57?g, start flattening the dough under a rolling pin and place it in the dough machine at the notch just below the thickest one. Iron this plate several times by folding it over itself until you get a rectangle as big as the stencil pattern.

Step 2

Place the silkscreen on the polymer paste, pass the roller over the assembly. Place a line of paint on a smooth card or a squeegee and spread it evenly on the stencil, you can iron several times if you have gaps. It is important to wash the stencil in soapy water immediately after removing it from the dough plate.

Step 3

Take a round from the plate with a 40 mm punch and place it on the central pattern and cut it into two equal parts.

Step 4
Ethnic and refined polymer clay earrings : Step 4

With your thin flexible blade cut the edges of the curved part following the drawings. Start by removing small triangles on the lines of the pressed patterns and then gradually remove the excess dough.

Step 5
Ethnic and refined polymer clay earrings : Step 5

Run a piece of black dough through the same notch of the dough machine as the other baking sheet used. This time take a round with the 30 mm punch, cut it also in two parts. Use the thicker blade to mark your half-rounds with fan-shaped lines. Mark the dough with the non-cutting side of the blade. Bake your four pieces in a traditional oven at 120 degrees for 30 minutes.

Step 6

Resinate your parts with glaze resin by mixing the two components with two parts of resin to one part of hardener. Pour the resulting resin into a second container to ensure homogeneity of the mixture, wait until there are no more bubbles to cover your polymer surface. Do not resinify the other parts in half-rounds.

Step 7

Wait two days so you can touch the resin surface without putting your fingerprints on it. With a hand chuck or a Dremel, drill two holes in the mandalas and three in the others.

Step 8
Ethnic and refined polymer clay earrings : Step 8

Proceed to the assembly of the jewels by passing two rings through the holes to connect the two pieces and then a third one for the stainless steel stud.
