To begin, it is absolutely necessary to know the technique of the peyote because we begin by weaving the rectangle of the pattern.
Once the rectangle of the grid is finished, we will close the tube and only then we start the peytwist technique.

The advantage with seed beads is that there are an infinite number of possibilities to use them: they can be strung on a thread, they can be sewn on a support, they can be woven... And when it comes to bead weaving, there are many techniques. If the brick stitch and the peyote are the most known, there are many others. With a needle or with a loom, it's impossible to get bored!
In this technical sheet, our partner, Karole Larcanche, proposes you to learn one of them: the peytwist technique.
It is a technique of needle weaving beads, invented by the designer Gerlinde Lenz, which allows to make beaded tubes. Peytwist combines the peyote weaving technique with a twist that will create a spiral pattern. It is not for nothing that this technique is also called Peyote weaving with a twist - not crochet. The result will have the same visual effect as a crochet spiral... but without a hook.
If you don't know how to crochet, but you dream of a beautiful necklace or an elegant bracelet in the form of a spiral of pearls, peytwist weaving is for you! The advantage of this technique is that everything is done with a needle. It is therefore much easier than crochet.
To make a peytwist bracelet or necklace, you will need the following materials
This is a rather repetitive technique. To avoid this, it is better to start with a bracelet to avoid discouraging yourself. Also, by using size 11/0 seed beads, your work will go up faster.
To be able to do the Peytwist weaving technique, you need to know the peyote weaving technique to make the first part of the jewel. This will be the basis of the weaving. If you do not know or do not master the peyote weaving, we invite you to consult our How to do a simple peyote weaving technique.
As with other weaving techniques, you just have to follow a pattern (also called diagram) and repeat the pattern until you get the desired length of necklace or bracelet.
Don't hesitate to make your work tight. If you tend to weave too loosely, you can slip a fishnet tube inside your tube to make the final result look nicer.
By using fireline yarn and tightening well, you won't have any worries. No need to use a fishnet tube!
To finish your jewel, we advise you to use end caps, an extension chain if needed and a clasp. Let's go, we show you in a few steps how to start a creation in peytwsit or needle spiral.
To make the bracelet of the example below, discover our tutorial: Peytwist bracelet or needle spiral for beginners.

To begin, it is absolutely necessary to know the technique of the peyote because we begin by weaving the rectangle of the pattern.
Once the rectangle of the grid is finished, we will close the tube and only then we start the peytwist technique.

The peytwist is very simple, when you get out of the white bead, as on the picture, from the tube above, you must add 1 white bead, 1 gold and 1 white, then you go back down following the color of the beads, so 3 white and 1 gold, and then you will have to go back up your thread in the golden one, passing through the 2 beads below and make your thread in the white one.then you go back down following the color of the pearls, so 3 white and 1 golden, and there you will have to go back up your thread in the golden by passing through the 2 pearls below and make the thread go up in the golden.

For this scheme for example when you weave, you will always put 3 beads up and down it will be 4 beads, arrived at the bottom of the 4 beads, you must pass in the 2 beads below and go back up in the last bead that you placed before going back up your thread (the 4th bead)
ATTENTION: do not forget to place a golden bead in the middle of the white part, so 5 white beads and the 6th will be a gold and that on the whole bracelet. Now you have to continue like that until the desired size of the bracelet, following the colors of the diagram

For this pattern, for example, when you weave, you will always put 3 beads up and 4 beads down it will be. Once you get to the bottom of the 4 beads, you have to go through the 2 beads underneath and go back up to the last bead you placed before going up your thread (the 4th bead).
ATTENTION: do not forget to place a golden bead in the middle of the white part, so 5 white beads and the 6th will be a golden one. Continue like this until you reach the desired size of the bracelet, following the colors of the diagram.
