Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial

How to weave Miyuki beads?

You love the look of spiral crochet creations but you don't know how to crochet or you find this technique too difficult? Then this tutorial is for you! Our partner Karole Larcanché teaches you, in this tutorial, how to weave Miyuki Rocailles beads with the Peytwist technique, also called Peyote with a twist. The final result? A tube bracelet beaded with a needle that will have the same look as a jewel made with the crochet spiral technique. Karole chose to make the bracelet in pastel tones, but you can adapt this bead weave to any color you like. For that, we have a large choice of Miyuki Rocailles beads on our website, so you will be spoilt for choice!

If you are a beginner and you don't know the peyote weaving technique, I invite you to have a look at our"How to make a simple peyote weaving" technical sheet, which will help you to start your weaving. You will also find at the bottom of the page, the weaving grid to help you create the first element of your bracelet.

If you liked this technique, don't hesitate to consult the Terracotta Necklace tutorial which was also made by our partner Karole Larcanché with this same technique. And if you're a fan of spiral jewelry and you're not afraid of the techniques, such as they are, we offer plenty of tutorials with the spiral technique that will surely inspire you.

If you do not know the technique peyote, the data sheet is here https://www.perlesandco.com/ressources/ft23631-comment-faire-un-tissage-peyote-pair-simple.html

So we start by stringing 1 golden bead, 6 white beads, 2 golden, 2 salmon, 2 orange, 2 wattermelon, 2 pink tea and finish with 1 golden.

Step 3

Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 5

Pull on your wire to start closing the tube

Step 7
Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 7

fold your weaving as on the picture, to give it the shape of a tube, then you have to close the tube using the peyote technique.

Step 8
Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 8

To close the tube, pass your needle through the second salmon bead as shown in the photo, then pass through the salmon bead at the top and then down into the orange bead at the bottom and zip the whole tube the same way until you come out through the last white bead.

Step 9
Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 9

From there, we will start the peytwist technique.

Step 10
Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 10

we thread 1 white pearl, 1 golden pearl and 1 white pearl, we tighten the thread.

Step 11
Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 11

Then we go back down by putting on 1 white, 1 white, 1 white and 1 golden.

Step 12
Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 12

You must go back up your thread in the last golden bead that you just threaded, for this you must go back up your needle in the pink tea bead on the right and go back up in the gold as on the photo.

Step 13
Peytwist weaving bracelet tutorial : Step 13

Thread 1 gold, 1 white, 1 white and go back down following the colors of your bracelet.

There you go, nothing complicated, now you just have to do the same thing following the colors, until the desired size for your bracelet.

You must always place 3 beads when you go up and 4 beads when you go down.

Don't forget step 13 each time to wind up your thread.

The pattern is very simple, you just have to follow the colors while weaving.

Be careful not to forget to place a gold bead in the white part every 6 beads, you must alternate 5 white beads, 1 gold, 5 white beads.

When you have the length you want, just hide your thread in the beads and glue your tips.
