Welcome to our Learn to create jewelry with gemstones course. This training course introduces you to the art of creating costume jewelry through five fun and creative videos. In each lesson, you'll learn the basics of jewelry-making by following a simple, accessible tutorial. In previous lessons, we created an elastic bracelet with 8 mm gemstone beads, a pair of dangling earrings, a chain necklace with gemstone beads in the center and a thin bracelet with a sliding clasp and very small beads.
Today is the last lesson of the season. We'll be making a necklace with heavy gemstone beads. If you watched the first video, we saw that elastic wire, while an easy, quick and affordable option, was not the most suitable wire for creating natural stone jewelry. The most suitable wire is wired wire.
Stranded wire is a wire composed of several braided metal strands. It is often covered with a nylon coating to protect the strands. Stranded wire is a metal wire, but you can't shape it like copper wire. It won't keep the shape you give it. Beginners frequently make this mistake. It's a wire whose flexibility depends on its diameter and the number of strands.
The greater the number of strands, the more flexible and resistant the wire, but the more expensive it will be.
