10 things to do to wait for Christmas!

How to pass the time before Christmas?

Christmas is the favorite holiday of children. They look forward to it. Their excitement grows as the days go by and it can be hard to keep them going. To avoid drama, use this time of year and their energy to offer them new activities and develop their creativity!

Here are 10 activities to keep kids (and adults too) busy until D-day, when opening the little boxes of the Advent Calendar is not enough to wait for Christmas:

1. Write a letter to Santa Claus

If you haven't already done so! Instead of sticking all the toys in the catalog, encourage your child to write a nice letter with his own words.
If your child doesn't know how to write yet, take your beautiful pen, your best paper and write a letter under his dictation. On the other hand, add a nice drawing made by your little one, that will always please Santa and his elves.

2. Take a walk

Wrapped up warmly, walking in nature hand in hand allows you to get away from it all and let off steam. Imagine a playful walk, like adventurous explorers in search of pine cones, pretty rocks, acorns and their shells, small branches, holly or mistletoe, moss or foliage, chestnuts... All these treasures of nature will be used for a next DIY activity as we will see in the next idea.
Before you go on your adventure, don't forget a bag to take home your findings.

3. make christmas decorations

As we said, the previous idea leads us to this third project! Everything you collected during the walk will be used to create Christmas decorations, such as wreaths, characters, baubles or garlands.

4. Make Christmas cookies

Make shortbread cookies in the shape of a star or a tree, with chocolate, cinnamon, spread or jam filling... with special Christmas cookie cutters. Be careful, do not use cookie cutters that you have already used for the polymer even if they are clean. Personalize them with powdered sugar, colored marbles, edible glitter or even sugar stars.
And if you want to make treats for Santa and his reindeer, your activity will be a great success.

5. Make small plate gifts for guests

The possibilities are numerous: they can draw pictures, make small objects or create simple beaded bracelets.
Need some inspiration? Take a look at our ideas for small plate gifts for guests.
To make them even more proud, wrap their gifts in a pretty gift box with a pretty ribbon.

6. Make greeting cards

Let their creativity flow as they wish a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to those around them. Guide them with our easy greeting card ideas.
And to make this activity last for days, teach them to make their own paper. They'll be even prouder.

7. Make a snowman

For those lucky enough to live in areas with harsh winters, make a snowman. Add a knitted hat and scarf.
For the others, help them make a snowman without snow with cotton, cardboard, toilet paper rolls, boxes, a sock, with ice cream sticks... Let your imagination run wild! Plus, you can keep them from year to year because you can be sure they won't melt.

8. Make a hot chocolate

Snuggled up under the blanket, make them a hot chocolate with marshmallows to enjoy while watching a Christmas cartoon. Accompany them by reading a book or knitting a little sweater or wool blanket.

9. Do a creative hobby

For the more creative, introduce them to a new craft. Think of a kit to have everything on hand at the same time.
And there is something for all tastes and levels:

- a modeling kit with all the materials to make a small animal in Fimo all cute.

- a Brazilian bracelet kit with threads and patterns to make pretty friendship jewelry to offer as a Christmas gift or to give to friends at the beginning of the school year.

- a Hama ironing bead kit with everything you need to make rabbit, fox, pig, panda, cat or raccoon heads.

- a modeling clay kit with all the accessories to make Celeste the little unicorn.

- a scratch card kit ideal to enhance your artistic talent. Simply scratch the black scratch-off layer of the card to reveal a multicolored design. And why not keep his cards as a greeting card. Just write a text together on the back of the card stock.

10. Sort out the toys

Since Santa is supposed to bring more toys, this might be a good opportunity to get him to sort through the toys he no longer uses or the ones that are broken. And yes, it's nice to make room for the new ones.
He will be able to give the toys in good summer to children who do not have the same chance to celebrate Christmas.
