For those who don't know yet, the shamballa bracelet is a fancy bracelet inspired by Tibetan prayer bracelets. It is composed of round beads, surrounded by a cord and linked together by macramé knots. It ends with a very practical slipknot to open and close it. If you don't know its name, you certainly couldn't miss it!
If some see it as a spiritual jewel, for others it is a simple mixed bracelet. It can indeed be worn because it is pretty and not because of religious convictions.
What is Shamballa?
Before being an ultra-popular bracelet, Shamballa is the name of a secret kingdom from an ancient Hindu-Buddhist myth. This secret land of unparalleled splendor, which does not appear on any map, is said to be hidden in the mountains of Tibet. It is synonymous with a haven of peace, tranquility and happiness.
What kind of thread should I use for a shamballa bracelet?
You can use a multitude of different threads to make this type of bracelet. You can choose braided nylon, C-LON Tex 400 Bead Cord, waxed cotton, Liberty cord, beaded cotton, rat tail cord or rolled evening cord. For our tutorial, we used a nylon thread.
Be careful with the diameter of the hole of the beads, you must be able to thread them on the thread.
Once the thread is chosen, you will also need to take pretty pearls. In our example, we chose plasticine rhinestones and Jet Hematite beads.
Natural materials are also welcome such as wood beads, bone beads, rudraksha seeds, gemstone beads, acai seeds from Brazil, round Tagua beads...
Finally, to facilitate the realization of macramé knots and for the comfort of work, use a tray for micro-macramé and T-pins for micro-macramé.
