This is a term coined by Miyuki to describe her beads with a durable finish. On Duracoat beads, she applies a protective varnish that helps the color retain its vibrancy better against wear, friction, and moisture compared to a traditional finish.
Solid-colored beads have color integrated directly into the glass: it never fades. Duracoat, on the other hand, protects a color applied to the surface, which would fade more quickly without this coating.
They are available in most Miyuki sizes: seed beads, Delica 8/0, 11/0, 15/0, and Tila Beads, with a wide selection of colors, including galvanized, gold-plated, and metallic finishes.
