How to make a bracelet yourself ?

Ultra trendy, the weekly bracelet appeals to all women regardless of their age and style. Timeless, it brings a touch of elegance to an evening or casual outfit. It is therefore THE jewel to have in your jewelry box!

What is a weekly bracelet? This bracelet is a great classic of the jewellery industry. It is composed of seven bracelets that represent the seven days of the week. Hence its name! There are many variations (and that's pretty cool for designers!): the bracelets can be thin or thick, hammered, twisted, decorated with stones, decorated with charms, linked with a barrette to form a single piece of jewellery, with a clasp for an elegant look or without a clasp for a destroy effect... It's up to you to choose your favourite version!

In this video tutorial, we show you how to make your own bracelet from A to Z: how to cut the wire? How to shape the wire? How to weld the wire ? With Lucie's advice, a little patience and dexterity, you will easily make your own DIY costume jewellery.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

For this bracelet, we used a silver wire of diameter 0.8 mm, it will take the shape of your wrist and with a destroy style voluntarily.

Before starting to work your wire, it is important to anneal the metal. We show you in a video how to anneal metal. Measure your hand circumference by inserting your thumb inside your hand.

The diameter of the wire is very thin, you can cut the wire with shears. If you use a larger diameter, cut with a bocil.

Step 2

File both ends of the wire to a flat end. File as straight as possible so that the two ends touch perfectly, and there are no gaps. You can put a little sandpaper to finish before soldering the bracelet.

With the syringe, position your solder where you want to solder. Heat the whole bracelet and then refocus your flame on the solder. When the solder flows, stop heating immediately.

Place your bracelet on a jeweler's pile to let it cool.

Then put it in a dryer to remove all traces of borax and oxidation.

Step 3

Shape your bracelet using a steel or wooden triboulet with a wooden mallet to avoid marking your wire.

Put the bracelet flat with the help of a pile and tap with a wooden mallet.

To remove the excess solder, use the needle files. File along the round wire to avoid making facets and deforming your wire.

No need to press hard, go little by little to

Step 4

To finish your bracelet, polish and emerge your bracelet
