In jewelry, the stripping powder is an essential stripper for those who work with metal. Made of sulfuric acid, it is particularly suitable for silver and gold coins.
A solution to be derobed is used in a hot bath, it makes it possible to strip the welds (borax) and to remove the traces of oxidation due to annealing or brazing.
Use:
1. Dissolve 30gr/litre solution with warm water (max 52°C)
2. Check that the product is completely dissolved, without any residue in the solution.
3. Use anti-acid pickling tanks or containers.
4. Dip the objects in the solution until you obtain clean surfaces.
5. When there are no more traces of oxidation, remove the item from the drip tray and immerse it in a bowl of cold water to rinse.
While it is advisable to use acid-proof tanks or tubs, it is also possible to use a sturdy container such as a Pyrex bowl that will withstand the heat.
To immerse your pieces in the de-roasting bath, we advise you to use a de-roasting tweezer, specially designed for this purpose, or plastic tweezers to avoid contaminating the de-roasted pieces. It is important to take this precaution. Otherwise all your pieces will come out with a pinkish color.
Precautions to take when using a derobing solution:
- Equip yourself with a pair of gloves,
- Wear safety glasses and a mask,
- Work in a well-ventilated area and open windows as much as possible. Ideally, you should have an extractor hood over the derochers.
- Do not boil your deroché.
