How to make dangling earrings?
Want to make trendy ear rings from A to Z? Here's a tutorial on how to make your own earrings using different-sized, intertwined hoops.
There's nothing very complicated about creating these dangling earrings, you just need to know the brazing technique. In the video, I show you my tips for making the right gestures and soldering rings correctly.
The base of these earrings is made from ready-made, customizable hoop earrings available from Perles & Co. We simply add the closed rings we've soldered on top.
To find out the right length of wire to cut, multiply the diameter of the rings you want to make by the number PI, i.e. 3.14 + the diameter of the wire. For example, if you want to make a ring with a diameter of 18 mm, you'll need to calculate 18 mm x 3.14 + 2 = 58.5 mm. The length of wire to be shaped will therefore be 58.5 mm.
To make these multi-hoop earrings, I used 50 cm of silver wire (*not 1 m as mentioned in the video), which is more than enough to make the pair of earrings.
Please note, however, that if you're just starting out in traditional jewelry-making, I'd advise you to practice on affordable metals such as brass. Once you've mastered the technique, you can move on to more precious and expensive metals like925 silver.
When the earrings are finished, I've chosen to hammer the rings to achieve a nice finish, but you can also wear your earrings as they are.
Mastering jewelry-making techniques requires patience and practice. If you're just starting out, it's normal not to achieve a flawless soldering result the first time. Learning to create jewelry requires practice and practice. Don't get discouraged!
Finally, don't forget to wear gloves, a smock and a finger guard to protect yourself from overheating.
