How to create imitation ceramic beads with polymer clay? This technique is very pleasant to do and is suitable for all levels. You have to start with a white clay base and have fun making patina effects with dry pastels and to imitate the oxides in the ceramic you have to add micas powders. In this tutorial you will also see how to create large beads of equal size to make a necklace with copper leather links and pretty golden spacer beads.

Take your loaf of white dough, roll it over so that you can insert it into the dough machine at the wide notch.

With a 3 cm cookie cutter, cut out 10 rounds from the plate.

Group the rounds two by two to make beads by rolling them between your hands. pierce with a needle each bead leaving them on their support, when you have pierced a side, turn your bead to prick it on both sides and thus crush it slightly.

Pass the needle through the hole of the pearls then roll the pearl on a support to make a cylinder. Scrape your dry ochre pastel to obtain powder then with your finger spread this colour unevenly on the beads.

Scratch a baton of a second color and add pearl overtones with your index finger.

Add a third colour and this time use a brush to fill in the hole of the hole which is still white.

The last color of the dry pastels is the blue you can use several. Take a wet wipe and pass it over each bead, insisting on a few points that will appear whiter, it is on these places that you will put touches of blue while blurring with your wipe, we patina the beads.

The final touch on the beads is to place a few dots of gold and copper micas on the beads to remind them of the oxides in the ceramic. Bake your beads at 120 degrees for 30 minutes.

Once your pearls are out of the oven and cooled, place them on pegs to be able to varnish them.

Proceed to the assembly by cutting in a spool of leather thread 3 lengths of 60 cm. Put a bead in one of the threads, then a golden spacer, continue with the other beads. Finish by putting two golden discs on each side.

Fold the remaining wires in half, make a knot to connect them to the central wire on each side, cut the wires to the length that suits you and then thread a lace clip end on each side, crush it by tightening it with pliers. Now add a ring in the hole of the end and on one side a carabiner.
