How to make your own heishis beads in polymer clay? In this video you will see how to make very thin flat round beads from transparent Cernit polymer clay. There are two different effects, translucent beads colored with dry pastel powders and other more opaque beads where translucent paste, opaque white paste and fragments of golden metal sheets are mixed. The assembly to build your necklace is on a cabled wire, closed by pearls to be crushed as well as a clasp snap hook.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Prepare your different paste colours by mixing dry pastel powder with translucent Cernit paste. Take an emerald green and different blues and a colour close to terracotta. The white heishi are made from translucent paste mixed with a little white and gold metal leaves. This last color is the dominant color of the necklace, you must make a plate 3 times bigger than the other colors.

Step 2

Switch your different colours to notch number 3 on the Imperia machine, which corresponds to a fine notch. You must then place your plates on the surface that will be used for baking, for example a tiled plate. Take a 5 mm mini cookie cutter to cut out circles from the different coloured plates and the white one.

Crush all the pellets under your index finger to flatten them and increase their diameter from 5 mm to 7 mm. Bake for 30 minutes at 120 degrees.

Step 3

remove your pads with a blade and then proceed to the assembly of your collar on wired wire.
