How to make a macrame bracelet with cowries ?
This is the jewel of the summer not to be missed! The cowrie reappears in necklace, custo and bracelet. Follow our video tutorial to make your bracelet with knots and cowries for this summer! It is a DIY DIY tutorial very easy and very fast.
The trend is to wear these shells in accumulation , "stacking" in English. You can either alternate natural cowrie shells and cowrie shells in metal or wear your cowrie bracelet with other bracelets in laces or leather cords . And why not a bracelet woven in Miyuki pearls ?
The cauri is a shellfish that has long been used as a bargaining chip or in addition to the CFA franc in some African countries.
The yarn used is a special micro macramé yarn that is covered with a wax. This is Linhasita wire. This wax prevents knots from loosening easily. The knots between the golden baubles and the cowries are simple knots, sometimes doubled. The sliding knot used is a flat knot also known as a macrame knot. To finish the macrame knot, burn the ends of the threads to the lighter or for more precision to the zap thread burning-wire pen .
