How to create a small punch needle purse?
Where can I find a Punch Needle pattern?
You don't need to keep up with the latest DIY news to know that punch needles are the decorating must-have of the moment!
So since we love this technique, a little too much in fact, Bérénice aka @Woolthatgirl presents a punch needle tuto, but not just any punch needle: a mini pouch to slip into your handbag to hold your cards, or any other precious little secret!
You can transform it into a pretty coin purse by adding a snap, it's up to you...
And since we're cool, we've even included an instructional video - pretty cool, don't you think? You can also find the steps below, so let's get to it!
Step 1:
Reproduce the pattern on a sheet of paper, find the dimensions just below:

Step 2:
Cut the first piece of fabric to size, using the drum as a template, then cut a second piece to the same size.
This will give you both sides of your pouch.
Step 3:
Place your first piece of canvas in your drum, pulling it tight.
Don't hesitate to tighten your drum with a pair of pliers to keep the canvas in place. Yes, Punch Needle moves!
Step 4:
Trace the pattern in pencil on your canvas, then use a ruler for the inside measurements.
Step 5:
Thread your wool through the Punch Needle using the needle threader (what a great invention!).
Step 6:
It's time to punch! Start from the outside and work your way inwards.
When you've finished, thread the yarn through the back of the punch and cut it flush with the other loops.
Step 7:
Then do the other two colors of the rainbow (in the order you prefer).
Make sure you stay flush with the fabric and don't pull on the thread, otherwise your work will fall apart!
Step 8:
Repeat the operation with the other fabric to make the back of your little pouch.
Step 9:
Now it's time to sew the two parts together. Cut the fabric around it, leaving 2 cm, then fold it to form a bead and pin it in place.
Step 10:
Pass your thread around the beading, starting from the side of the coin purse.
Step 11:
Leave an opening by sewing each side, then start again on the second side, bringing the two sides together.
Finish at the bottom.
Step 12:
Finish the seam by passing your thread through the last 4 loops and trim flush.
And that's it! You've just made your first Punch Needle creation, so get hooked!
For stock reasons, we offer an alternative to wool, but just as similar!
