Knitting stitch marker

How do I create marker rings?

Our creative partner Marine aka Hello c'est Marine brings you this super quick, easy and inexpensive tutorial for knitters. You'll learn how to create pretty little stitch markers using Christmas charms. Marine has chosen to make these markers in stainless steel so as not to stain the work. The double rings make the markers more resistant and prevent them from coming loose when handled.

Stitch markers are indispensable accessories for crochet and knitting fans, whether beginners or experts. As their name suggests, they are used to mark specific stitches in a work, making it easier to follow the pattern or manage certain technical steps. This marker is only suitable for knitting projects. Made with a closed ring, it slips over the needle and cannot be removed without sliding to the end of the needle. But if you're more the crochet team, you can turn this fixed marker into a removable one by adding a clasp to the closed ring. You can find all our stainless steel clasps on our site.

If you've run out of ideas for Christmas presents, this little marker will be ideal to give to a loved one who knits or crochets. Don't hesitate to personalize it with our wide choice of stainless steel charms.

If you reproduce this tutorial, don't hesitate to mention Marine's account @chat_tricote_par_ici and @perlesandco's account on your publication. We can't wait to see your beautiful creations!

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Knitting stitch marker : Step 1

This tutorial is a one-step process!

Open the double ring, and slide the closed 10mm ring and reindeer charm into the slot.

Slide until the double ring closes: you're done!

Using a double ring ensures that the charm will always be attached to the marker stand.

You can also change the charm and opt for another motif, such as a fir tree, a Christmas wreath, a gift, a candy cane, a snowflake or, very suitable for the knitting subject: a sweater! You can also see them in the product list to give you the choice.

And depending on the season, you're bound to find other suitable patterns, given our favorite supplier's extensive catalog!

You can then do the same to slide the ring closed.

If you wish to adapt this marker to the hook. You can add a clasp to the closed ring.
