Cut 84 strands, each 60 cm long.

Do you know what theme you are going to do for the holidays? For a DIY nature Christmas or DIY bohemian Christmas you've come to the right place. How about making a macrame Christmas wreath? Thanks to Amélie's step-by-step guide aka TinySneakPeek, you can make a DIY macrame Christmas decoration. Tie your cotton threads on a metal circle, add a light garland and you're done. You will be able to decorate your home with a very relaxing nature spirit.
We suggest natural colored macramé ropes for this tutorial, but you can also make it with other colors. We have dozens of colors of 3mm macramé rope.

Cut 84 strands, each 60 cm long.

To complete this tutorial, you will need to master three different macramé knots: the lark's head knot, the alternate flat knot and the oblique baguette knot. To learn the basic macramé knots, see our data sheet.
Using the lark's head knot technique, lay each strand around the ring until it is completely covered.

You need to get this.

Make a first row of alternating overhand knots around the circle.
Pass the right-hand thread under the two center threads and over the left-hand thread. Then the left wire over the two center wires and under the right wire. Tighten the first part of the knot.

Repeat, reversing the threads, i.e., pass the left thread under the two center threads and over the right thread, then pass the right thread over the center threads and under the left thread. Tighten the second half of the knot.
Your alternate overhand knot is complete. Form a second row of alternating overhand knots.

In the third row, form alternating flat knots in the following manner: *two knots, one space*. Repeat all around the circle
In the fourth row, form alternating flat knots by doing the following: *two spaces, one knot*. Thus forming triangles.

Make oblique chopstick knots under the right side of each triangle. Repeat by making oblique chopstick knots under the left side. Finally, bind the two sides together. Do this all around the work.
To make a slanted stick knot, use the thread at the top of the triangle. It will serve as a guide. Wrap the next thread around the guide thread once from underneath, then back to the front, and finally through the resulting loop. Wrap it again in the same way. Your oblique baguette knot is finished.

Connect the triangles to each other with oblique rod knots (see explanations in previous step).

Trim any excess wire lengths, then secure your wreath with a tie.
