Cut 8 x 3.5 m and 2 x 1 m of rope. Fold the 8 ropes in 2 and tie them to the ring with a lark's knot.
It has often been said: fashion is an eternal restart! So if the 70s are currently trendy in the decoration, no wonder to see the return in force of macramé! And it is not to our displeasure. On the contrary! We love thebohemian spirit of macramé decoration in every room of our house.
Bring nature into your home while focusing on originality with a hanging plant! Your flower pot will take height thanks to an aerial macramé suspension. We often see this hanging planter in garden centers, but have you ever thought about making your own hanging planter? That's what I suggest you do with this tutorial!
As for the material, you will need macramé rope in the color you prefer. Choose it according to the color of your flowerpot for a perfect harmony. Here, I chose the macramé cord mix ecru and gold of 3 mm from the Spanish brand Casasol. But why not make a hanging plant with a macramé cord in pink, midnight blue-silver, yellow or bottle green-silver... So many colorful touches for your interior decoration.
For the technique, you just need to master the basic knots of macramé. To practice and learn how to make the perfect knot macramé knot perfect, feel free to follow our tutorial in our Learn section. It's up to you!

Cut 8 x 3.5 m and 2 x 1 m of rope. Fold the 8 ropes in 2 and tie them to the ring with a lark's knot.

With 1 m of rope, make a slip knot below the lark's knot: make a loop at the end of the rope and then wrap the long end around the loop and the previous ropes.

Pass the rope end through the loop. Pull the top rope end to hide the loop under the wrapped ropes. Cut both ends of the rope.

Separate the 16 strings into 4 x 4. Make 7 Moor's head knots. On the diagram, 1 line represents 4 ropes together.

On each group of 4 strings, make a macramé overhand knot 20 cm from the Moor's head knot.
Pass the left thread behind the two center threads and the right thread in front of the left thread, behind the two threads and in the loop formed by the left thread.
The second part of the knot is the reverse of the first part.
Take 2 ropes from each group of 4 and make an overhand knot at 12 cm, then repeat this step 8 cm further.
Finish with a noose with the last 1m rope to bring all the ropes together.
Check the strength and stability of your suspension by testing it with a pot before cutting the bottom of the strings to even out.
