Today we show you how to make this bohemian double macramé suspension. This light will be perfect to hang in your home, you can even adjust it to your interior by changing the colors of threads used. Macrame decorations are very trendy this year, that's why we at Perles & Co have decided to dedicate our March 2022 DIY tutorials collection "Aux fils du temps". Every month we create jewelry tutorials on a different theme to highlight some products that are trendy in order to offer inspiration for all your jewelry and DIY decorations. So don't hesitate to discover all the other tutorials in this special macramé and micro-macramé collection. In decoration or in jewelry, macramé and micro-macramé are two great inspirations for our creations this year.
The knots made for this DIY are the classic lark's knot but also an alternate flat knot. These knots will allow you to decorate the circle of the suspension, but also to create the complete weaving of the terracotta thread. This tutorial requires patience but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. That's why this bohemian macramé pendant light is accessible to beginners!

Wrap your largest circle with yarn and finish it with a simple knot. Then cover your circle with a lark's knot (form a loop around the circle and loop the two ends inside over it.

The threads are worked in groups of 8 (4 lengths folded in 2). Form a classic macramé knot around the 2 central threads. To do this, pass the right thread over the 2 center threads, then the left thread under the right thread, behind the 2 center threads and over the right thread. Tighten well.

Repeat the operation in reverse: pass the left thread over the 2 middle threads, the right thread under the left thread, then behind the middle threads and finally in the loop formed by the left thread. Tighten well.

Repeat the operation by cutting 8 threads, position them on the circle and make the same V braid. Then connect the 2 braids by making 2 flat knots with the center threads (2 flat knots with the first 2 threads and then continue by making 2 flat knots with the following threads).

Repeat these different operations until the circle is completely covered. Then cut the threads to the length you want, we opted for about 23cm from the circle to the ends of the thread once cut.
All you have to do is cover your smallest circle (the one with the lampshade base) with ecru macramé cord with lark's knots so that these threads are longer than our terracotta weave to create a "tier", knowing that the threads will become longer once combed. Once the smaller circle is covered, you comb each strand to give a more bohemian effect to your hanging. You can unravel the strands by hand and then use a macramé comb found in the basket. Re-cut your strands if necessary after combing.

To connect the two circles together use the remaining threads from your weaving and tie at four ends, tightening well while trying to balance your suspension so that it doesn't lean. Congratulations, you're done, now all you have to do is hang it in your home! So show us the result by tagging us with #perlesandco or @perlesandco on Facebook and Instagram ;)
