How to create a graphic long necklace?
How to combine brickstitch weaving and fabric?
Charlotte Souchet has found the perfect combination of fabric and Miyuki Delicas beads woven in brickstitch to create this superb graphic long necklace, which is very easy to make and requires very little material. You'll also find Charlotte's cat, ice cream and pineapple brooches, also created with small pieces of fabric.
Are you new to weaving? We invite you to take a look at our many technical sheets to learn the different types of weaving, and in particular Brickstitch.
Designer's tip: Use new scissors or scissors that have only been used for sewing, otherwise you'll have trouble cutting your fabric.
Let's get started!
STEP 1
To begin, draw a rectangle shape on the felt and mark the positions of each fabric.

STEP 2
Then cut out the shape and the fabric squares (Caution! Don't cut the fabric too large to avoid wasting too much), and choose the area of fabric you like best before cutting.

STEP 3
To get the cleanest possible result, you'll need to fold over the edges of the fabrics and then iron them so that the folds are well marked.
Tip: don't hesitate to turn the fabrics to determine the best placement for your personalized brooch.

STEP 4
You can now start gluing the fabrics one by one, spreading glue all over the area of your first fabric (don't worry if there are any "wet glue spots", the glue will dry without a trace) then apply the fabric to the front. Turn the felt over and press down to stick the fabric in place.
Apply glue to the sides, then fold over the sides of the fabric (feel free to cut the fabric if it protrudes, but be careful not to cut too short so that the fabric sticks well!Turn the felt over and press again.
Do the same for the other two fabrics.
ETAPE 5 To prevent the pendant from moving over time, you need to sew the fabrics together. To do this, start sewing on the reverse side for the cleanest possible result. You can sew the fabrics together, then finish sewing on the reverse side too, so that the knot is not visible.
STEP 6 To weave, use the Brick Stitch method. However, for each bead in the first line, prick your front needle into the fabric so that your weave attaches to the pendant.

Brick Stitch method:
Thread the first two beads. Iron the thread through the first bead to create a loop. Thread the third bead and iron the thread through the previous bead. Continue this action for each bead in the first line. The first line is now complete.
To make a simple reduction :
Thread two beads, then pass your needle under the thread connecting the 2nd and 3rd beads in the row below. Then pass your thread back through the two beads in the opposite direction. Your thread is now in the first bead, so pass your needle through the second bead from bottom to top. For the third bead, pass your needle under the thread connecting the 3rd and 4th beads, then pass it back through the bead in the opposite direction. Repeat until the end of the line. To make a simple increase :
Thread two beads, then pass your needle under the thread connecting the 1st and 2nd beads of the line below. Then thread through the last bead from bottom to top. For the third bead? pass your needle under the thread connecting the 2nd and 3rd beads, then pass it back through the bead in the opposite direction. Repeat until the end of the line. STEP 7
Use the thread to attach the gold rings to each end of the pendant. To do this, loop the thread through the first two beads, then through the last two beads for the second ring. To secure the weave, pass the thread back inside the beads to create a knot with the thread.
then cut flush with the weave.

Now cut the gold chain to a length of 70cm, slide each end of the chain into the open rings using the flat, rounded pliers, then close the two rings.

Your long necklace is finished!
